Conservatives Heart The ACLU!

Tucker Carlson recently said that the ACLU "carries water for the Democratic party". I find it interesting that an organization committed to defending the Bill Of Rights is automatically viewed by conservatives as pro liberal. Bill O'Reilly calls them "the most dangerous organization in America!"
Really?? Not the Aryan Youth or The Klan or whatever group the McVeighs belonged to?
They seem to be tacitly admitting that conservatives don't like/ believe/ defend our civil liberties and that that is the realm of liberals/Democrats, no?
Why do they hate us for our freedom?

I'm not so sure it's an "automatic" assumption based on its desire to defend the Bill of Rights. It comes from an emphasis in many outlets on highlighting the most uncomfortable instances that merit the ACLU's defense (e.g., the Klan, Guantanamo defense, bong hits 4 jesus) and automatically associates anything uncomfortable / radical as part of the democratic party.

That's a bit of a leap to say that just because one doesn't like the ACLU, says they're just a tool for the DNC, that necessarily means that the GOPs don't advocate civil liberties. It is just as likely that he's saying (albeit incorrectly) that the ACLU only selectively defends civil liberties, when it's against the GOP/for the DNC.

Bill O'Reilly is just a blowhard, and Tucker wants to blow him hard and would laugh like an embarrassed school girl if he knew you knew that.
